Service Body Truck Beds

A service body is a rolling workshop. Instead of a deck with storage underneath, the whole structure is storage — tall compartments running up both sides, often with shelving and dividers inside, and a smaller open bed or none at all. If the truck is the job site, this is the bed for it.

Jayhawk Trailers stocks service bodies across our Denver metro and northern Colorado locations. They are the smallest part of our truck bed inventory and they move, so availability is worth a phone call.

Who needs one

Trades where the work happens at the truck. Mechanics, electricians, plumbers, welders, utility and oilfield crews, irrigation techs. Anyone whose day involves walking back to the truck twenty times for a different tool, and who loses real money when a tool is not where it should be.

The compartments are the point. Deep vertical boxes hold parts bins, torches, coils of wire and spare fittings in a way a skirted bed cannot, and everything is reachable standing up from the outside rather than climbing onto a deck.

What you trade away

Deck space and payload. A service body is heavier than a flat or skirted bed and leaves far less open area for hauling material. If you need to carry pallets or long stock as well as tools, a skirted bed with a separate toolbox may serve you better than a full service body.

What we stock

Service bodies in our inventory come from CM Truck Beds. Compartment configurations, crane provisions and deck arrangements vary considerably between models, which is a real reason to see one in person before ordering.

Fitment

Year, make and model, single rear wheel or dually, and the cab-to-axle measurement. Service bodies are more sensitive to that measurement than other styles because the compartment layout is designed around a specific frame length.

Common questions

Service body or skirted bed with a toolbox?

If tools are the primary cargo, service body. If tools ride along but material is the real load, skirted with a toolbox.

Can a crane be mounted?

Some models are built with crane provisions and some are not, and it is not something to retrofit casually. Tell us up front if a crane is in the plan.

Can you install it?

Yes — our service department handles bed installation. Call ahead so we can schedule it.

How many do you keep in stock?

Fewer than flatbeds or skirted beds. Call before driving out, and ask about what is on order if nothing on the lot fits.
