MAXX-D Trailers has been building in Texas since September 1999, when founder Allen Kornelsen started the company as Maxey Trailers Mfg. More than 100,000 trailers later, it is still family owned and every unit is still built in Brookston, Texas. Our 7x14 and 7x16 telescopic dumps run 8K axles and use a telescoping cylinder instead of a scissor hoist. You get a steadier lift under a heavy, wet load and a taller dump angle when the last of it needs to slide out.
Scissor Hoist Dump Trailers

The 8.5x32 and 8.5x34 hydraulic dovetail goosenecks are rated at 25.9K GVWR. Push a button, the tail lays down, and you drive the machine on. No ramps to wrestle and no ramp angle problems with a low clearance skid steer or a mini excavator.

What is a roll-off dump trailer and who actually needs one?
A roll-off carries interchangeable bins that you set down on the job and leave. One trailer services several sites, so a remodeler can drop a bin at a tear-out, haul another to the landfill, and come back for the first without renting a dumpster.
It is the right buy for demolition, roofing, and property maintenance crews. For hauling dirt and gravel back and forth all day, a fixed box dumps faster.
Telescopic or scissor hoist on a MAXX-D dump?
Telescopic cylinders lift to a steeper dump angle and clear loose material like mulch, chips, and dry gravel faster. Scissor hoists put their leverage in the middle of the stroke, which is what you want under wet clay, road base, and concrete rubble.
Around Denver most contractors are moving heavy, sticky material at least part of the year, so think about your worst load rather than your typical one.
Do I need a USDOT number to run a MAXX-D dump in Colorado?
For commercial use inside Colorado, yes, once the truck and trailer combination rates over 16,001 pounds. C.R.S. 42-4-235 sets that intrastate threshold and the number carries a CO suffix for in-state operations.
A gooseneck dump behind a one-ton is well past it. The federal 10,001-pound rule people quote applies to interstate work and is not the number that catches you here.
Do MAXX-D dump trailers need brakes on both axles?
Yes, and they come that way. C.R.S. 42-4-223 requires brakes on all wheels at 3,000 pounds gross, and a dump trailer passes that empty. Both axles on our MAXX-D units are braked from the factory.
Set your controller gain with the trailer loaded, not empty. A gain dialed in on an empty box will not hold a full one coming down a grade.
How do I keep a MAXX-D dump from corroding through a Colorado winter?
The magnesium chloride on Front Range roads is the problem, not the payload. It collects on the frame, the hoist, the hydraulic lines, and the wiring, and it keeps working long after the road dries out.
Rinse the underside and inside the box after winter runs, wipe and lightly oil the cylinder rod, and repair gouges in the bed floor early. A dump trailer's life is decided by its box floor.
